Get your students onto real sets
Crew&Co is a global network of working freelance crew. Your institution pays one monthly membership, and every student on the course gets access to the people, jobs and know-how that usually take years to find.
For film, TV, media, photography, fashion, make-up and production courses, in any country.
What students get
- Student-friendly jobsRunner, assistant and trainee roles posted by crew and clients who've ticked “open to students”. Students only see the jobs where they're actually wanted.
- Shadow a proMembers can invite a student to watch them work on a real shoot. The best way to learn how a set runs is to stand on one.
- Crew SessionsRecorded masterclasses from people working in the industry: editing, lighting, branding, pricing and running a creative business.
- The business toolkitsThe day rate calculator, quote builder, rate guide, templates and get paid toolkit. The stuff most courses don't have time to teach.
- A student profileA profile clearly marked Student, so crew know who's getting in touch and can help them properly.
- A community that talksQuestion of the week, the members' group and online meet-ups with working crew from around the world.
How work experience works
Crew ask for a student
A member or client posts a runner, assistant or shadowing opportunity and marks it open to students.
Students apply
It shows up on their jobs board and in their morning email. Everything else stays hidden.
They get on set
Paid runner and assistant days, or shadowing where they watch, learn and ask questions.
They graduate into the crew
Credits, contacts and a discounted first year of full membership when they finish.
Fair work, built in
Students aren't free crew. Real work is paid. Shadowing means watching, not working. We ask everyone posting to follow the minimum wage and work experience rules where the shoot takes place, and we'll remove posts that don't.
- 18 and over onlyStudent membership is for students aged 18 or over.
- Protecting working crewStudents only see jobs marked open to students, so they're never set up to undercut the professionals they're learning from.
- Checked membersWe look at every listing before it goes live.
- InsuranceWe'll ask students to check their placement or personal cover before going on set, and we'll point them in the right direction.

Good to know
When can students start?
Crew&Co opens in January 2027 and student access follows soon after. Talk to us now to be one of our founding universities and have it ready for your students.
Can students join on their own?
We're planning an individual student membership too. For now, the quickest way in is for a course leader or careers team to get in touch.
Is it just for UK universities?
No. Crew&Co is global and everything is online, so institutions in any country can join.
Can students apply for any job?
No. Students only see jobs that crew or clients have marked open to students. That keeps the jobs board fair for working freelancers and makes sure students are only put forward where they're wanted.
What happens when they graduate?
They can move straight onto full membership with a discount on their first year, keeping their profile, contacts and credits.
